Indian Political Parties Congratulate the Convening of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China

On the occasion of the opening of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Indian main political parties sent their congratulations to the CPC and expressed good wishes for the further development of China-India relations.

the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) indicated that the 18th Congress of the CPC was being held at a crucial stage of China's endeavor in building a moderately prosperous society in an all-around manner while facing the challenges of deepening reform and opening-up as well as accelerating the transformation of economic development pattern. The CPI (M) was confident that the deliberations of this Congress would facilitate the further growth and consolidation of socialism in China while upholding the banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics. The continuing close fraternal relations between the CPI (M) and the CPC would be further strengthened, and the CPI (M) would make more contributions to the friendship between the two peoples.

The Communist Party of India (CPI) sent its warm fraternal greetings to the leadership and delegates of the 18th Congress of the CPC. The CPI noted that the Chinese people in the last five years had already registered tremendous progress in all areas through implementing scientific outlook on development aiming towards achieving social harmony and balanced growth. The CPI had much expectation about the outcome of the 18th Congress of the CPC and was confident about the future progress and development of China. The CPI would like to work jointly with the CPC to further strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries and peoples as well as achieving world peace, progress and socialist development.

The All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) extended heartfelt congratulations and warm greetings to this "historic Congress" of the CPC. The AIFB concluded that the tremendous achievements in China was due to the able leadership of the CPC who led Chinese people to resolutely implement socialism with Chinese Characteristics, as well as adopting basic principles to face new challenges of the contemporary world. The AIFB saluted the new Central Committee and the new leadership to be elected in this National Congress, believed that under their leadership, the bilateral fraternal relations between the people of China and India would be further strengthened and the party-to-party relations between the CPC and the AIFB would last forever.

The ruling Indian National Congress (INC) sent warm fraternal greetings to the 18th National Congress of the CPC, indicated that as two most populous nations in the world who are also close neighbours, a friendly and harmonious relationship between China and India could make major contributions to peace and stability of the world. The INC hoped that the China-India relations would continue to improve and any problem would be settled in a friendly and harmonious manner.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (Indian People's Party, BJP) congratulated the convening of the 18th National Congress of the CPC, expressed its desire to maintain strong goodwill relations with China, appreciated the CPC's steering of the people of China on the path of prosperity in the political, economic, social and cultural spheres, and commented that now as China had been enjoying global prestige and position in world affairs, the BJP was sure that the 18th National Congress of CPC should further formulate strategic policies for nation building and push forward the economic and social development of China.

President Sharad Yadav of the Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)), who visited China recently also sent his warm congratulations, saying that this National Congress meeting would be of great importance as while holding the banner of socialism, it would formulate a strategic guidance for deepening reforms as well as new undertaking of party building in an all round manner. While holding the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, it would also promote scientific development to build a prosperous society. He himself had been very impressed during the visit to China to see the multi-cornered progress in various fields, pointing out that the reform processes started by Chinese great leader Mr. Deng Xiaoping for the building of the socialism in the country had become a milestone for all the developing nations. The leaders of India and China during the past two decades had been cooperating in creating political and economic understanding for mutual benefit which would augment peace and prosperity between two countries. He indicated that the Chinese revolution since its birth had shown a new light and direction to revolutionary masses of the world, nowadays the socialist path of China had been able to successfully meet the challenges posed by domestic and international crises, the overall national strength and living conditions of the people had risen by a large margin, and China had been enjoying much bigger influence and higher prestige in the world. The JD(U) hoped all success for this National Congress and the prosperity of China.
