BEIJING, June 13 (Xinhua) -- A senior publicity official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has called for efforts to promote the great achievements that the people under the leadership of the CPC have made in revolution and socialism construction.

Liu Yunshan, head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during a recent study tour in east China's Zhejiang Province, according to an official statement Xinhua received Monday.

The CPC, founded in 1921, is celebrating its 90th anniversary which falls on July 1.

Liu said the CPC's 90-year history is one during which the CPC led the Chinese people in realization of national independence, people's liberation, the nation's prosperity and improvement of people's welfare.

He urged more efforts to educate the public on the CPC's glorious history, valuable experience, splendid achievements and hardworking spirit to strengthen people's confidence to keep to the socialism road with Chinese characteristics.

The move is of great significance to promote scientific development, social harmony and smooth realization of the goals for economic and social development set for the 12th Five-Year Plan period (2011-2015), Liu said.
