Vice Minister of the General Administration of Press and Publication Wu Shulin Visits India

In order to implement the consensus contained in the Joint Communiqué of the People's Republic of China and the Republic of India issued during Premier Wen Jiabao's visit to India last December that "both sides agreed to discuss compiling an encyclopedia on China-India cultural contacts", Mr. Wu Shulin, Vice Minister of the General Administration of Press and Publication of the People's Republic of China, paid a visit to India from 6 to 10 May 2011. After friendly consultations, Mr. Wu Shulin and Mr. Jayant Prasad, Special Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs in charge of public diplomacy, signed the "Memorandum between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of India on Compilation of an Encyclopedia of China-India Cultural Contacts" on behalf of both governments.

During his stay in India, Mr. Wu Shulin met with H.E. Mr Zhang Yan, ambassador of China to India. And Mr. Wu's delegation also visited heads of local famous publishing houses.
