Wen Jiabao Visits Tagore International School

On December 15, 2010, Premier of the State Council Wen Jiabao visited Tagore International School in New Delhi, capital of India and exchanged views cordially with teachers and students there.

Premier Wen was warmly welcomed upon arrival at the campus. Principal Madhulika Sen introduced the school's philosophy and exchange activities with Shanghai Jinyuan Middle School. She told Premier Wen that the school will follow the requirement of the government to make Chinese one of its foreign language teaching subjects next year. Representatives of students talked about their understanding and learning experience of the Chinese culture.

Premier Wen spoke highly of Tagore International School's efforts of carrying forward Mr. Tagore's spirit of peace and friendship and active participation in the exchange activities between the Chinese and Indian youth. He said language is the key to communication. To learn each other's language can build a bridge for the communication of souls. He encouraged the students to carefully learn the Chinese language and culture, to strengthen communications with the Chinese side and to serve as young ambassadors of China-India friendship.

He presented Chinese teaching materials to Tagore International School and wrote the four Chinese characters "China-India friendship" for its teachers and students. The visit was immersed in a friendly and joyous atmosphere and the campus was filled with waves of laughter and applause.
