On the evening of May 17, 2010, the Chinese Film Festival was officially launched at the Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi, India. Ms. Liu Wenyan, deputy director of Liaoning Provincial Administration of Broadcasting and Television, Mr. Zhang Yue, Chargé d' Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in India and Mr. Pyarelal, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India attended the opening ceremony. Mr. Pyarelal said that China is a major film producer and outstanding works have been emerging in recent years. He said that India and China has a great potential for cooperation in this field. Recently a number of Indian films was shown in Shanghai and received wide acknowledgments. India and China share a lot of similarities in culture and film can function as a bridge between the two countries.

More than 300 people from all walks of life of India attended the opening ceremony and watched the film Confucius. Many were deeply impressed by the film. A student from Delhi University said the film help her to better understand not only Confucius and his great ideas, but also about Chinese culture. A film director from India's Bollywood said the film is great such as in terms of the sequencing and special effects. He said, "It is a rare good film".

As a highlight of the "China Festival" in India, the Film Festival was jointly organized by the Chinese State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, the Chinese Embassy in India and the Directorate of Film Festivals of India. The Festival is held from May 17 to 22 in New Delhi and will be held subsequently in Kolkata and Pune from May 28 to June 16, featuring totally nine excellent Chinese films including Confucius, Together, You and Me, The Road Home and Looking for Jackie.
