——Celebration of Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and India and China Week in Hyderabad-IV

On the morning of November 12, 2010, Chinese Ambassador Mr. Zhang Yan attended the Seminar on India-China Relations: 60 years of cooperation in Economy & Business, Education and Culture held in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh and delivered a keynote address. President of GITAM University Dr. M.V.V.S. Murthi, Vice Chancellor Prof. G. Subrahmanyam, Dean of GITAM School of International Business Prof. V.K. Kumar attended and hosted the seminar. More than 250 people including scholars from universities in Andhra Pradesh, specialist on China from Jawaharlal Nehru University, high-ranking diplomats from the Chinese Embassy, representatives and students from local universities participated in the seminar.

Ambassador Zhang Yan first introduced the great achievements China has made and explained the status of China being a developing country. He emphasized that development would remain to be the top priority for China in the years to come. To attain this objective China needs a peaceful international environment and will firmly pursue the path of peaceful development. At the same time through its development, China would contribute to the world peace and development and to promote the common progress and prosperity of mankind.

Ambassador Zhang Yan pointed out that the China-India relations had achieved comprehensive and rapid development in recent years, featuring more frequent high-level interactions, fruitful cooperation in economy and trade, as well as the cooperation in broader areas including education, culture, media and exchanges between the two peoples. Much progress has also been made in the exchanges between youths of the two countries.

Ambassador stressed that in future China and India should further enhance mutual trust, upgrade economic cooperation, expand people-to-people exchanges, strengthen the coordination and cooperation in international affairs, respect each other and properly address each other’s concerns.

At last, Ambassador Zhang Yan said that Andhra Pradesh was a place abounding with natural and human resources and had a huge potential in conducting cooperation with China. Ambassador Zhang Yan promised that the Chinese Embassy in India would make all efforts to promote the cooperation between China and Andhra Pradesh and make it an important part and parcel of the China-India Relations.

Participating scholars also spoke and discussed about the history, status quo and future of China-India relations from different dimensions and perspectives, proceeding from the topics of China-India economic and trade cooperation, education and cultural exchanges and so on. They all share the view that the strong and steady economic growth of China and India would not only benefit the people of the two countries but also serve as a strong driving force for the world economy.

The Seminar was co-organized by the Chinese Embassy in India and the GITAM (Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management) University.
