Vice President Li Yuanchao Meets with General Secretary of Communist Party of India (Marxist) Prakash Karat

On June 19, 2013, Li Yuanchao, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Vice President, met with a delegation of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) led by General Secretary Prakash Karat in Beijing.

Li Yuanchao said that China and India are important close neighbours for each other and the relationship between the two countries has made new progress since the beginning of this year. The two sides need to actively push bilateral strategic cooperative partnership for peace and prosperity to a new level. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) and other left wing parties in India are an important force in safeguarding China-India friendship. Hope the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the CPC will strengthen exchanges, playing a positive role in promoting stable and healthy development of China-India relationship.

Karat said that India and China are the biggest countries in the world. It is of great significance to Asia as a whole and the world to actively develop the strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) is willing to make unremitting efforts to push forward this relationship.
