China and India Hold the 25th Meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation & Coordination on China-India Border Affairs

On October 14th, 2022, H.E. Mr. Hong Liang, Director-General of the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs of the Foreign Ministry of China and Dr. Shilpak Ambule, Joint Secretary of the East Asia Division and External Affairs Minister’s Office of the Ministry of External Affairs of India co-chaired the 25th Meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation & Coordination on China-India Border Affairs via video link. Representatives from both countries’ departments related to diplomacy, national defense, and immigration attended the meeting.

The two sides spoke positively of the outcomes of previous disengagements achieved by the border troops of both countries, and fully recognized the achievements made by previous diplomatic and military communication. Both sides expressed willingness to take measures to further ease the border situation, and facilitate it to enter the phase of normalized management and control from emergency response. Both sides had an in-depth exchange of views on the current specific issues of mutual concern, made constructive proposals, and agreed to hold the 17th round of the China-India Corps Commander Level Meeting at an early date. Both sides indicated that they would earnestly implement the important consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, strictly observe the agreements and protocols signed as well as the related consensus reached by both sides, so as to jointly maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas.
