On November 15, 2025, the Dr. Kotnis Acupuncture Hospital held a closing ceremony for the free acupuncture camps commemorating the 87th anniversary of the Indian Medical Mission to China, alongside celebrations for its 50th founding anniversary. Mr. Wang Xinming, Minister-Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in India, attended and delivered a keynote speech. The event gathered over 100 participants, including members of the Punjab Legislative Assembly, municipal officials of Ludhiana, representatives from clinics involved in the charity program, journalists, and friends from various sectors.
In his address, Mr. Wang Xinming emphasized that the righteous actions of the Indian Medical Mission during the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression illuminated history. He praised the hospital’s 50-year dedication to carrying forward Dr. Kotnis’ spirit as truly admirable. According to the Recommendations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development, China will further enhance its public health capabilities and promote the inheritance and innovation of traditional Chinese medicine over the next 5 years. He reiterated that the Chinese Embassy is willing to continue supporting the development of acupuncture in India to benefit more local people. With the support of the Chinese Embassy, the Acupuncture Science Association of India coordinated 25 local acupuncture institutions to conduct free acupuncture camps across 14 Indian states since October 3, providing free treatment to approximately 5,000 patients. The program was met with widespread acclaim.
