Respected Madam Madhulika Sen,

Respected Principal Jyotika Jakhar,

Teachers, students, and parents, dear friends,

Good evening! Namaste!

It is a great pleasure to be here again at the Tagore International School. On behalf of the Chinese Embassy, I would like to extend my best wishes to all the faculty and students of the school, and express my profound respect to Dr. Hari Sen, the founder of the school.

Last year, I attended the 60th anniversary celebration of the Tagore International School in East of Kailash. Today, as I visit the Vasant Vihar Campus, I am once again profoundly struck by its rich humanistic spirit and vibrant youth energy.

Dr. Hari Sen has been deeply influenced by Rabindranath Tagore's educational philosophy. Since the founding of the school, she has been committed to offering modern, high-quality, and affordable education — a mission that has remained unchanged for more than sixty years. With a forward-looking vision, the school has nurtured generations of outstanding talents, and its alumni now span the globe.

Naming the school after Rabindranath Tagore carries profound significance. Do you know that Tagore also has a Chinese name, Zhu Zhendan? This name combines “Tianzhu”—the ancient Chinese name for India—and “Zhendan” (or “Sintan”)—the ancient Indian name for China, showing how much he values the friendship between China and India. Building on Tagore's sincere aspirations for China-India friendship, Tagore International School has actively engaged in educational and cultural exchanges between the two countries. As early as 17 years ago, it established a partnership with Shanghai Jinyuan High School, helping young people from both countries connect and understand each other better. In 2014, Professor Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, visited the Vasant Vihar campus, leaving behind many wonderful memories. In 2023, students from Tagore International School experienced a virtual interaction with Chinese astronauts aboard the Tiangong Space Station and youths from various SCO countries, jointly opening a new chapter in China-India youth exchanges.

Dear Teachers, Students, and Parents,

The world becomes more vibrant through exchanges. China and India share a long history of interaction, with their peoples mutually learning from and benefiting each another. A great example is sugar, which we all love. In Hindi, the word "chini" (音:奇尼) literally means "Chinese". Back in 647 AD, China learned sugar-making technique from India and improved on it. Then, in the early 1600s, the improved method was brought back to India from China. This fascinating story vividly shows how communication and exchanges promote mutual understanding and common progress.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and India, and our bilateral ties now stand at a new historical starting point. Not long ago, China formulated the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development. India is also striving towards its great vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. In the face of similar development tasks, we are ready to promote greater exchanges and cooperation between our two countries in the fields of education and culture, so as to bring our peoples closer at heart. I firmly believe that, with our joint efforts, the tree of China-India friendship will grow ever stronger and more vibrant.

Finally, I sincerely wish Tagore International School greater success and hope it will make greater contributions to promoting China-India friendship! May the students’ performances be a brilliant success!

Thank you!Dhanyavaad dosto!
