Chinese Embassy in India and Russian Center of Science and Culture Jointly Host the “Lanting Culture Salon” Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition

On March 7, 2026, to celebrate International Women’s Day, the Chinese Embassy in India and the Russian Center of Science and Culture jointly hosted the “Lanting Culture Salon” Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition in New Delhi. Diplomats from various countries, Indian art enthusiasts, university teachers and students, and media representatives attended the event.

In his remarks, Mr. He Meng, Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in India, noted that Chinese calligraphy and painting emphasize artistic conception and expressive brushwork, embodying the profound heritage of Chinese culture and reflecting the unique aesthetic sensibilities and spiritual pursuits of the Chinese people. He expressed the hope that the exhibition would enable more friends to experience the charm of Chinese calligraphy and painting and further promote exchanges and friendship among women from different countries. Roman Babushkin, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Russian Embassy in India, said in his remarks that culture and art serve as bridges for communication among different civilizations. He noted that Russia, China, and India are all countries with rich cultural traditions, and enhancing exchanges and cooperation in the cultural field is of great significance. He hoped that such activities would continue to promote friendly interactions among the peoples of the three countries.

Following the opening ceremony, Madam Tan Yuxiu, spouse of Ambassador Xu Feihong, warmly interacted with female representatives from various countries, including Madam Diana Alipova, spouse of the Russian Ambassador to India, and Madam Chawana Tongsanpan, Ambassador of Thailand to India. Madam Tan also demonstrated Chinese calligraphy techniques to the audience on site. Under the guidance of Chinese female diplomats, guests took up brushes to try their hand at calligraphy, experiencing the beauty of traditional Chinese art.
