Ambassador Xu Feihong attended the unveiling ceremony of the Center for Chinese Studies and the Chinese New Year Gala at Jawaharlal Nehru University

On March 23, Ambassador Xu Feihong visited Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), met with Professor Pandit, Vice-Chancellor of the University, unveiled the Center for Chinese Studies, attended the Chinese New Year gala and delivered a speech. Approximately 300 people attended the event, including Professor Shoba Sivasankaran, Dean of the School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies, Associate Professor Rakesh Kumar, Director of the Centre for Chinese Studies, Mr. Jiang Guobing, Chairman of the Sino-India Chamber of Commerce, Minister Counselor Wang Xinming, as well as young diplomats, representatives of Chinese enterprises in India, and faculty and students of the University.

Ambassador Xu Feihong had a meeting with Vice-Chancellor Pandit on enhancing people-to-people exchanges between China and India and promoting educational cooperation. In the remarks at the Chinese New Year Gala, Ambassador Xu extended his best wishes for the Year of the Horse to all faculty members and students, congratulated the unveiling of the Center for Chinese Studies and the publication of new books on Chinese culture by Professor B. R. Deepak. He noted that, under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, China-India relations have entered a stage of further enhancement, and the prospects for bilateral cooperation are broad. Ambassador Xu encouraged the students and faculty to remain inheritors of China-India friendship and work together to build a brighter future for bilateral relations.

At the gala, faculty and students of the Center for Chinese Studies presented wonderful performances, showcasing the charm of Chinese culture and their achievements in Chinese language learning.
