On May 23, the Indian regional finals and award ceremony of the 2026 “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College and Secondary School Students were held in New Delhi. Ambassador Xu Feihong and Secretary General Pankaj Mittal of the Association of Indian Universities attended the event and delivered speeches. More than 130 people attended the event, including Ambassador Xu’s spouse Tan Yuxiu, Minister Counsellor Wang Xinming, finalists, teacher, student and parent representatives from relevant Indian universities and schools, as well as media representatives.

Ambassador Xu Feihong extended congratulations to the winning contestants. He noted that the Chinese Bridge competition is not only a stage to showcase Chinese language skills and learning achievements, but also an important platform for young students to broaden their horizons and pursue their dreams. As exchanges and cooperation between China and India continue to deepen and Chinese modernization advances steadily, proficiency in Chinese and a deep understanding of Chinese culture will become important professional advantages. Ambassador Xu Feihong encouraged the participants to learn Chinese well, gain a deeper understanding of China, and become envoys of China-India friendship.

Secretary General Pankaj Mittal noted that language is much more than a means of communication; it is also a bridge between civilizations. She hoped that the younger generations of the two countries would strengthen communication and dialogue, enhance mutual understanding, and become envoys of goodwill.

During the competition, contestants competed in themed speeches, quiz sessions, and talent performances. Following intense competition, Anshika Chouhan and Viraat Narayan, both recommended by India China Academy, won the championships in the college and secondary school categories respectively, and will represent India at the global finals in China.
