On September 5, H.E. Mr. Xu Feihong, Chinese Ambassador to India, visited Mahatma Gandhi’s former residence and the Sabarmati riverfront development project in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Xu Feihong said that in the golden autumn of September ten years ago, President Xi Jinping started his first state visit to India from Gujarat. Accompanied by Prime Minister Modi, he visited Mahatma Gandhi’s former residence and Sabarmati riverfront development project. The two leaders held fruitful talks and reached broad consensus. President Xi Jinping stressed during the visit that the peoples of China and India live next to each other. They have had exchanges and mutual learning in ancient times, have shared weal and woe in recent times, and are now committed to common rejuvenation. The two countries should respect each other, learn from each other, build good-neighborly and friendly relations, and go forward hand in hand.
Xu Feihong pointed out that ten years later, we follow President Xi Jinping's footsteps at a critical stage of the development of China-India relations, reviewing the past and looking to the future, draw strength for moving forward. Just as the riverfront park is still expanding its construction, we hope people from all walks of life in China and India uphold the principles of “mutual respect, mutual understanding, mutual trust, mutual accommodation and mutual accomplishment”, spare no efforts to advance our relationship on a sound and stable track and bring more benefits to the people of the two countries and the world.
