Ambassador Sun Yuxi and his Wife Host a Reception on the Assumption of the Post

On the evening of February 1, Chinese Ambassador to India Mr. Sun Yuxi with his wife hosted a reception in New Delhi on the occasion of assuming the new post. Indian Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran was present at the reception on behalf of the Government of India. Also present at the reception were some 500 people including Indian government officials and friendly personages from the circles of politics, economy, culture and media along with diplomatic envoys and diplomats in India, representatives of Chinese companies, news agencies, Chinese students in India, Chinese Indians and overseas Chinese.

In his talks with the guests, Ambassador Sun expressed that he felt honored to be appointed the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to India and was fully aware of his great responsibilities. The leaders of the two countries had laid down good foundation for the development of Sino-Indian relations, he would exert all his efforts to expand and deepen good-neighborly friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation. He also pointed out that this year was to witness the 55th anniversary of China-India diplomatic ties and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao would visit India. He believed that the two important events would lift China-India relations to a new high. Ambassador Sun sincerely hoped that during his tenure, he could get support and help of Indian friends from various circles and jointly make unremitting efforts to keep the good development momentum of China-India relations.

The atmosphere of the reception was cordial and friendly. All the guests extended congratulations and welcome to Ambassador Sun on his assumption of the post. They spoke highly of the development of China-India friendly ties and the positive achievements of the bilateral economic and trade cooperation and wished the continuous development of Sino-Indian friendly relations.
