On 20 August, H.E. Mr. Xu Feihong, Chinese Ambassador to India attended the Pre-Departure Orientation for Chinese Government Scholarship Winners from India and delivered a speech. Counsellor Yang Xiuhua, Counsellor Yu Jing, young Chinese diplomats, Professor B.R. Deepak of Jawaharlal Nehru University, and Indian scholarship winners attended the event. Representatives from China Scholarship Council and Beijing Language and Culture University joined the event online. Ambassador Xu congratulated the Indian students for winning the Chinese government scholarships. He addressed the importance of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, emphasizing that China's new reform agenda may create economic opportunities for India. As major developing countries with ancient civilizations, China and India should adhere to mutual respect, mutual understanding, mutual trust, mutual accommodation and mutual accomplishment, so as to implement the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He encouraged Indian students to indulge themselves in Chinese culture, history and society, renew the story of friendly exchanges and become ambassadors between China and India. The participants had friendly interactions, sharing thoughts and willingness to get an in-depth knowledge of China to deepen mutual understandings and friendship. Professor Deepak encouraged the students to cherish the opportunity to study in China, experience Chinese culture, enhance their understanding of China and the Chinese people, and become bridges and bonds of both countries.
