To mark the 60^th anniversary of the victory of China's Resistance War against Japanese Aggression, Mr. Sun Yuxi, Chinese Ambassador to India, accompanied by Mr. Song Deheng, Chinese Consul General to Mumbai, paid a visit to the relatives of Dr. D. Kotnis and held cordial talks with them on August 16. Dr. Kotnis was sent to China as a member of the Indian Medical Mission Team by the Jawaharlal Nehru-led India Congress Party during China's Resistance War against Japanese Aggression and sacrificed himself in China.

Ambassador Sun said Dr. Kotnis made contributions to the victory of the China's Resistance War against Japanese Aggression and saved many Chinese soldiers' lives. His heroic exploits not only witnessed the history of mutual sympathy and support between peoples of China and India in their fighting for independence and liberation, but also wrote a brilliant page in the friendly exchanges between the two peoples. Dr. Kotnis, the excellent representative of Indian youth, still served as a significant model for the youth of China and India, encouraging them to continue to  devoting themselves to promoting the friendship and cooperation between the two peoples. Dr. Kotnis will always live in the hearts of the two peoples. Ambassador Sun also said the concerned departments of both countries were planning to establish a memorial hall at Dr. Kotnis's former home to make his moving exploits known to more people. Ambassador Sun again conveyed Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao's cordial greetings to the family of Dr. Kotnis during his visit to India in April this year and presented them with a commemorative porcelain plate.

The third and fifth younger sisters of Dr. Kotnis and other relatives gathered together, thanking Ambassador Sun's special visit to Mumbai to extend greetings to them. The third younger sister of Dr. Kotnis said that although his brother left them a long time ago, he was still remembered by them. She well kept the inscription by Chairman Mao for Dr. Kotnis, commemorative sculpture of Dr. Kotnis presented by the Chinese Embassy in India and other articles in her house. The relatives of Dr. Kotnis thanked the Chinese government and people for their care in many years.

Ambassador Sun also briefed them on the important achievements of Chinese Premier Wen's visit to India, the current situation of the development of Sino-Indian relations and the lecture and film reception to mark the 60^th  anniversary of the victory of China's Resistance War against Japanese Aggression organized by the Embassy. The relatives of Dr. Kotnis were all deeply encouraged by the good momentum of the development of Sino-Indian relations and hoped China and India could be friendly to each other for ever, strengthen cooperation and promote the peace and prosperity of the world.
