On October 24, Spokesperson of Chinese Embassy in India Counselor Ji Rong made a solemn statement on some Indian media Taiwan-related false reports, refuted their wrong practices and clarified China’s principle and position.

The spokesperson Counselor Ji Rong pointed out that some Indian media carried Taiwan-related reports which referred to Taiwan as “country”, India-Taiwan relations as relations between the “two countries” , and the representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India as so-called “ambassador”. These reports openly advocated “two Chinas” and “one China, one Taiwan”, seriously challenged the red line of the One-China principle, for which the Chinese Embassy expressed its strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition.

There is only one China in the world. The Government of the People’s Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing the whole of China. Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory. It is an objective fact and a universally recognized norm governing international relations and the general consensus of the international community. It is also the long-standing position of the Indian Government.

We urge the relevant media recognize the seriousness of the problem, take a right stance on issues concerning China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, adhere to the One-China principle, do not provide platform for “Taiwan independence forces”, immediately take steps to correct their mistakes and offset the negative effect these reports have caused.
