Governor of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China Nur Bekri Visits India

From November 3 to 6, 2011, Mr. Nur Bekri, Governor of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China visited India. He was warmly received by the Indian side. He met with Mr. Hamid Ansari, Vice President of India, Mr. Anand Sharma, Minister for Commerce, Industry and Textiles, Mr. Subodh Kand Sahay, Tourism Minister and Mr. Sanjay Singh, Secretary (East) of Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India during his stay in Delhi, and Mr. Prithviraj Chavan, Chief Minister of Maharashtra Pradesh in Mumbai. He also met with people from Indian private corporations and attended the luncheon held by Confederation of India Industry, and the signing ceremony of cooperation contract between Tebian Electric Apparatus, China and Gujarat Pradesh.

                                                             

During his talks with Indian officials and company executive officers, Governor Nur Bekri introduced economic and social development achievements of Xinjiang, expressed his will to know better about India and the Indian people, and welcomed Indian companies to invest in Xinjiang. Both sides exchanged views of strengthening mutual beneficial cooperation between Xinjiang and India as well as promoting China-India relations.

Chinese Ambassador to India Zhang Yan was also present in the main events in Delhi.
