Excellencies,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It gives me great pleasure to join you to launch the India China Golf Cup 2011. First of all, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to Foreign Secretary Mathai for giving his personal support to this tournament by attending this inauguration. My thanks also goes to ASSOCHAM, Indian Ministry of Tourism, China Tourism Office in Delhi and other cosponsors for the initiative and valuable support in organizing this meaningful event. I’m glad that so many friends from Indian and Chinese business community as well as members of diplomatic corps are present tonight.

Golf is a fascinating sport. It’s popular all over the world especially in the business circle. It has served as a useful platform for people to interact with each other, build friendship and also explore opportunities for cooperation including cooperation in the business sector.

India China Golf Cup 2011 is first of its kind. I hope all the participants to the tournament will make full use of this opportunity, not only to score the best result in the game but also try to strengthen your friendship, and further promote the cooperation between Chinese and Indian business communities. I also hope that in the future the tournament could become a regular event, so as to continuously add new impetus to the fast growing China-India economic and trade relations, contribute to the development of the China-India relations, and promote interactions among diplomatic corps in New Delhi.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We have a saying in China that “friendship first, competition second”. I know that among you there are master-hands in playing golf. So I hope that all of you could demonstrate the best skill and give us a wonderful show. I am sure, with your active participation, India China Golf Cup will eventually becomes one of the most popular and high-standard golf tournament in India.

In closing I wish the India China Golf Cup 2011 a grand success and wish all players good luck!
