On August 12, 2019, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended the closing ceremony of the fourth China-India High Level Media Forum with Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar of India in Beijing.

Wang Yi said, the development of China-India relations lies in the people and derives from communication. The media serve as an important bond to enhance the understanding and friendship between the two peoples. President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi attach great importance to the media exchanges between the two countries and encourage the media to make more coverage on the positive aspects of China-India relations and create an objective and friendly public opinion environment. We should fully implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, further strengthen media exchanges and cooperation, and make China-India friendship the mainstream in public opinion, in a bid to inject positive energy into China-India cooperation. It is hoped that the media of the two countries will grasp the mainstream and direction of China-India relations, serve as the messengers and facilitators of China-India friendship, report in an objective and balanced manner, and tell the true stories of China and India, so as to make positive contributions to promoting the development of China-India relations.

More than 30 representatives of the media, and experts and scholars from China and India were present at the high level media forum.
